Star Académie

History and description

Since 2004, Star Académie des Compagnons contest has offered young Francophones in Nipissing an exceptional springboard. Each year, around sixty participants aged 5 to 18 take the stage to perform a French song before a caring audience and jury, building confidence along the way.

In May 2024, during the 20th edition, more than 60 young people signed up to celebrate two decades of cultural expression and inclusion. The contest, born from the commitment of Sylvia Antinozzi, Éléonore Rochon and Roland Rochon, remains true to its mission: to develop stage presence, French language skills, and self-esteem among youth.

Warmly and professionally hosted by volunteers like Brigitte Beaudry-Hull, the contest introduces beginners to the microphone, stage management, and performing for a live audience. Each year, we watch them grow—from shy participants to true artists, some even pursuing careers or becoming active in cultural life.

🎤 Star Académie is much more than a contest: it’s a space for identity affirmation and Francophone pride, a festive moment that strengthens intergenerational ties and brings the whole community together around the French language.
